WHAT TO EXPECT:
Each Sunday morning, children ages 2- 8th grade gather in the North Wing for a mini worship service, lovingly known as Children’s Worship or Assembly. Here, children are introduced to the week’s lesson. In addition, they sing lively songs , geared specifically for young children. During Assembly, children also collect offering, sing the doxology, recite the Apostles’ Creed, and sing the Haye Mehr – just like their parents do in the sanctuary. During this time, the High School children gather in a small group to study contemporary Christian songs in depth.
Children are then dismissed to individual age-based classes, where each class studies the same lesson, using the Faithweaver curriculum. Teachers use games, videos, worksheets, and many hands-on activities to reinforce the day’s lesson. The first half of the year is traditionally spent studying the Old Testament, while the second half is spent in the New Testament. Students also learn about Armenian evangelical leaders as well as commemorate traditional Armenian holidays.
Sunday School students join their families during the first half of worship once a month, where they are able to enjoy a Children’s Sermon. Each year, the students present a Christmas pageant and Year-End Program for the church family. In addition, the students participate in Operation Christmas Child and host a Christmas Dinner and Easter breakfast.
WHAT’S NEXT:
The goal of the Sunday School is to be able to reach more and more children each year, in turn, spreading the word of God to family, friends, and the community. The future of the Sunday School is virtually limitless, with a program grounded in faith in Jesus and His guidance in all that we do.
