OUR PURPOSE:

Unfortunately, most teens have more questions about life, their faith, God, and the world than they have answers to. Everyone wants their voice to matter without feeling as if they are being judged or shamed especially when it comes to personal issues, sensitive topics, and conflicting world views. With so many distractions, truth claims, and opinions vying for their attention and acceptance, the APC Youth group exists to be a fun, safe, casual, Christ-centered space where teenagers from our community and their friends can come to build healthy relationships, ask honest questions, and develop a love for Jesus Christ and knowledge of the scriptures that will create disciples who make disciples. In partnership with their parents and our Senior Pastor we gather to share Christ’s love, communicate Orthodox Christian truth in relevant ways, and encourage each participant to live a holistic Christian lifestyle.

Along with our local bi-weekly meetings the youth group keeps the kids connected to the larger network of Armenian Evangelical Union-affiliated Church’s youth groups (AEYF) which sponsor events, retreats, and a summer camp; providing more opportunities for the kids to grow in their faith and connect with and make new friends from other parishes.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Set up happens between 5:30-6:00.
  • Food is delivered by 5:45 and set up in the gym.
  • Food is served/games are played from 6:00-7:15pm.
  • Teaching/lesson/discussion from 7:15-8pm.
  • Parents pick up by 8pm.

Through participation the kids will learn about how and why accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is the most important decision they will ever make…create disciples of Jesus Christ. Students who have made that decision will learn through intentional lesson planning how to develop their spiritual life in real practical ways that they can implement in their own daily lives. Participants will also have opportunities to ask questions in large and small discussion groups about topics relevant to their lives in light of the gospel truth.

The APC Youth group strives to Equip youth with tools to help them understand why foundational spiritual formations like consistent prayer, Bible reading, asking for prayer, journaling, worship music, and fellowship with other christians is key to nurturing and living a life that brings honor and glory to the Lord.

WHAT’S NEXT:

These are our goals:

  • See more of the kids invite their friends (which is happening!)
  • Attend the boys basketball games as outreach and support for them
  • Develop more mentor-style relationships between the kids and Young Professionals volunteers
  • Do more community service projects
  • Organize more off campus excursions to NYC
